Locate what you think is the webcam in the device manager, then disconnect the webcam while watching the screen. Since it doesn't have a driver, the webcam will have a small yellow question mark next to a series of numbers, which is the webcam model. Click the "Start" or Windows logo button, then click "Control Panel." From the control panel, find and select "System and Maintenance," and then "Device Manager." Locate your webcam among the devices on your computer. Plug your webcam into your computer as though you were setting it up. By finding a picture or product description of your webcam on the manufacturer website, you'll know which model you own and which driver you should download. Try and locate the one that looks like yours if your webcam isn't stamped with the model name. You can then visit the manufacturer's website and run a search on the model number to find applicable drivers.Ĭheck the manufacturer's website and look through the webcams. Look for a manufacturer name and a model number, which might have a series of letters or numbers to denote the type of webcam you own. Check the webcam hardware if you cannot locate the proper packaging.
